Unicity
Supports the Fight Against Breast Cancer
Although
the causes of breast cancer are not fully understood, there
are steps that every woman can take to make the development
of breast cancer less likely. These include eating healthily,
exercising regularly, and limiting the amount of alcohol you
drink. Leading a healthy lifestyle will not eliminate your
chance of getting breast cancer, but it may help reduce your
risk.
Also
vital in lowering the risk is early detection. It's important
for all women to do breast self-exams once every month and
to have clinical breast exams done by a health care provider
at least every three years beginning at age 20 and every year
after age 40. Experts also recommend that women 40 years and
older have a mammogram every year.
October
is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and throughout
October radiologists provide discounted or free screening
mammograms. To learn what facilities in your area are offering
